M3JP and M3KP flameproof hazardous area AC motors

The M3JP and M3KP are ABB flameproof low voltage motors designed for use in hazardous areas where explosive gas atmospheres may occur. Their Ex d enclosure is built so that an internal explosion cannot ignite the surrounding atmosphere. The M3JP is the cast iron motor in the IEC frame range, while the M3KP is the corresponding variant for the kilowatt range, available in different frame sizes and pole numbers. They are certified under ATEX and IECEx and carry the corresponding markings for gas groups and temperature classes. The motors use heavy duty bearings, IP55 or higher protection and can be fitted with brakes, encoders and thermal protection. Many versions may be run from a frequency converter when the certificate specifically permits it. Typical applications are pumps, fans, compressors and conveyors in oil and gas, petrochemical, chemical and mining plants, where equipment must meet Zone 1 or Zone 2 requirements.
