The URG-04LX-UG01 is a small scanning laser range finder from Hokuyo, powered and read through a single USB connection at 5 V. It scans over 240 degrees with an angular resolution of about 0.36 degrees and measures distance up to about 4 m using a 785 nm infrared laser. A scan takes about 100 ms, which suits mapping and obstacle detection on slow mobile robots. The unit is light, at about 160 g, and is widely used in education, research, and small service robots, and is supported by ROS drivers. It is not a safety-rated device.
