The OS1-32 is a 3D lidar sensor from Ouster, based on a digital architecture combining VCSEL lasers and SPAD detectors. The 32 in the name refers to the number of vertical channels, and the OS1 series offers a 360 degree horizontal field of view and a 45 degree vertical field of view, with a range of around 100 m depending on the model. It produces point clouds and also camera-like images with ambient and intensity channels, which are useful for perception tasks without a separate camera. The sensor connects by Ethernet, uses a standard connector, and has an IP68 and IP69K rating in its housing. It is supplied with software drivers and an SDK, including ROS support. The OS1 line is lightweight and is used on autonomous vehicles, robots, drones, mapping, security systems and industrial automation such as AGVs.
