The LMC series from Hiwin is a family of ironless linear synchronous motors. The forcer, or coil assembly, has no iron core, so there is no cogging force and no magnetic attraction between forcer and magnet track, which gives smooth motion and low velocity ripple at constant speed. The magnet track is a U-shaped channel with magnets on both sides, and the coil unit moves freely between them. The motor delivers continuous and peak thrust in a range of sizes and is controlled with a servo drive and a linear encoder as feedback. Ironless motors are used in semiconductor equipment, inspection systems, laser processing, and other high-precision, high-acceleration stages where low moving mass is wanted.
