AL8000 linear servomotor series

The AL8000 is Beckhoff’s series of iron-core synchronous linear motors, made up of a primary part carrying the coils and a secondary part of magnet plates. Because the load is driven directly, there is no gear, belt or spindle, so the axis has no backlash or mechanical wear and achieves very high acceleration with high positioning accuracy. The series spans several sizes and force classes, with the primary length setting continuous and peak force, and water cooling is offered on larger types. The motors are operated with Beckhoff AX5000 or AX8000 servo drives under TwinCAT, normally with an external linear encoder. Typical uses are pick and place handling, machine tool axes, laser processing and semiconductor and packaging machinery.
