The LR-TB5000 is the 5 m model of Keyence’s LR-T series all-purpose laser sensors, which detect objects by measuring distance rather than received light quantity, so detection is largely independent of target colour, gloss and angle. It uses a 660 nm red laser (Class 2; LR-TB5000CL is a Class 1 version) with a detection range of 60 to 5,000 mm and a spot kept to 40 mm or less. Response time is selectable at 1, 10, 25, 100 or 1,000 ms, and timer functions include on-delay, off-delay and one-shot. The control output is NPN or PNP selectable, and an analogue output can be set to 4-20 mA or 0-10 V; the sensor also supports IO-Link v1.1 for parameter setting and distance data. Up to four units can operate side by side with interference prevention. The housing is nickel-chrome plated zinc die-cast with a scratch-resistant PMMA window and is rated IP65/IP67. Supply is 20-30 V DC and the sensor weighs about 200 g; LR-TB5000 has a cable, LR-TB5000C an M12 connector. Applications include detecting vehicles, pallets and large workpieces, overfill and stack-height checks, and presence detection across conveyors.
