UM18-214126111 ultrasonic distance sensor

The UM18-214126111 is an ultrasonic proximity sensor from the SICK UM18 family. Ultrasonic sensors measure the transit time of a sound pulse to determine the distance to an object, and so they work with transparent, shiny or coloured materials as well as liquids, regardless of surface properties. The device has a cylindrical M18 housing with a sensing range of tens of centimetres to over a metre depending on the variant, and the output can be an analogue signal or a switching output, as configured. Applications include level measurement, loop control, stack height detection and presence detection in packaging, material handling and automotive production.
