UB500-18GM75-E5-V1 ultrasonic distance sensor

The UB500-18GM75-E5-V1 is an ultrasonic sensor from Pepperl+Fuchs in an M18 threaded barrel housing. The UB500 describes an operating range of up to 500 mm, and the E5 type denotes a PNP switch output with a teach-in function of switching points, while V1 indicates a 4-pin M12 connector. Ultrasonic sensors work by sending out sound pulses and measuring the time for the echo to return, and are therefore independent of the colour or transparency of the target, and can detect liquids, glass and transparent films. The sensor has a blind zone close to the face where measurement is not possible, and the beam cone depends on the type. The nickel-plated brass housing has a protective rating of IP67, and the sensor typically runs on 10 to 30 VDC.
