BUS 18M4-XA-07/030-S92G ultrasonic sensor

The BUS 18M4-XA-07/030-S92G is a cylindrical ultrasonic sensor from Balluff in an M18 housing. Ultrasonic sensors send out sound pulses and measure the time for an echo to return, which allows them to measure the distance to an object independent of colour, transparency or surface finish. Connection is through an M12 connector and the housing is made of nickel plated brass with a plastic sensing face and IP67 protection. A teach function sets the range limits. Typical applications are level measurement of liquids and bulk materials, loop control of webs, measuring the diameter of rolls, detecting transparent films and bottles, and distance control in packaging, material handling and printing industries. Dust and temperature variations can affect accuracy, and the unit has temperature compensation to reduce that effect.
