CompactCom B40 PROFINET / EtherCAT Communication Module

The Anybus CompactCom B40 is a communication module from HMS Networks that device makers fit into their products to connect them to industrial networks. The B40 is the brick format of the CompactCom 40 series, with separate variants for PROFINET IRT and EtherCAT among others, all using the same host application interface. The device developer writes the host interface once and can then offer several fieldbus and Ethernet variants by changing the module. The module handles the network stack, the certification-relevant parts, and the connector. It is used in drives, sensors, scales, and instruments, and the variant for each network is ordered under its own part number.
