SZ-V series safety laser scanner

The SZ-V series is Keyence’s safety laser scanner for area guarding of machines, robots and AGVs. It scans a 190° plane and offers a protective field of up to 8.4 m for 70 mm objects (less for finer resolutions down to 20 mm) and a warning field of up to 26 m. It is certified Type 3 AOPDDR to IEC 61496-3 and PL d, Category 3 to EN ISO 13849-1. Variants are the SZ-V04 multi-function type with four OSSDs and up to 4 banks, the SZ-V32 multi-bank type with up to 32 field banks, and network types SZ-V32N (PROFIsafe) and SZ-V32NC (CIP Safety); X-suffix models add a built-in camera that records images and video of trip events to help diagnose stoppages. Response time is selectable from 80 ms in high-speed mode upward, and the housing is IP65 with 24 V DC supply. A detachable display allows remote mounting, several heads can be cascaded, and fields are configured with free PC software. Typical uses are robot cell area protection, presence detection under machine beds and collision protection on automated guided vehicles.
