The SXYX is a Yamaha Motor Cartesian robot, built from two XY-plane axes plus a vertical axis, using the maker’s linear motor or ball screw single-axis modules. Cartesian robots offer straightforward programming, large work areas and high payloads compared with SCARA arms, and each axis can be sized to the stroke and load needed. Yamaha controllers such as the RCX series handle multi-axis interpolation and I/O. Typical applications include dispensing, assembly, pick and place, testing, and machine tending where a rectangular work envelope is useful.
