SWS-020 automatic robot tool changer system

The SWS-020 is a size 020 robot tool changer from the SCHUNK SWS series. It consists of a changer head fitted to the robot and a changer adapter fitted to the tool, which are locked together pneumatically with a piston-and-ball system. The system is designed for small robots and handling applications with payloads of up to a few kilograms, and it allows a variety of modules to be added for transferring compressed air, electrical power and signals, including modules for bus communication. A locking mechanism holds the tool in place if air pressure is lost, which reduces the risk of tool drop.
