MPS 130 modular robot tool changing coupler

The MPS 130 is a modular robot tool changer from Stäubli’s MPS family, which is built from a master side mounted to the robot and a tool side fitted to the end effector, with interchangeable modules for pneumatic, electrical, hydraulic and signal connections. The mechanical interface is locked pneumatically with a positive locking mechanism that maintains clamping even if air pressure is lost, and it offers a high repeatability when changing tools. The modular layout allows the user to choose the number and type of passes through, including multi-pin electrical and fluid modules, and to adapt the coupler as requirements change. The 130 size is a medium size suited to payloads of up to several tens of kilograms. Typical applications include material handling, welding, assembly and machine tending where a single robot must switch between grippers or process tools, as well as flexible manufacturing cells.
