The CXC200 is an automatic robotic tool changer from Applied Robotics, designed for heavy payloads on industrial robots. A tool changer consists of a master unit attached to the robot arm and a tool unit mounted on the end effector, which are locked together by a pneumatic mechanism using steel balls or similar coupling elements. This allows a robot to switch between grippers, welding guns or other tools automatically during a program. The CXC series is built for high moment loads and is offered with options for passing air, electrical signals, power and fluid through the interface using modules attached to the sides of the changer. Position repeatability is high, and sensors can indicate locked or unlocked state. Typical applications are material handling, machine tending, welding, assembly and palletising where several tools are used in a single cell, or where fast tool replacement reduces downtime.
