A load verification test payload set consists of a series of steel or aluminium mass plates with known weight, centre of gravity and inertia, plus an adapter plate that bolts to the robot’s ISO tool flange. It is used during commissioning, acceptance tests and service to check that a robot handles its rated payload, to validate the payload data entered in the controller, and to cross-check the result of KUKA’s automatic load data determination (KUKA.LoadDataDetermination), which estimates mass and centre of gravity by running defined test motions. Correct load data matters because KUKA controllers use it for dynamic path planning, collision detection and brake testing; wrong values cause path deviations, overload errors or false collision stops. A typical set allows masses to be stacked in steps up to the robot’s rated payload and placed at defined offsets to reproduce the payload diagram. Sets are usually made to order for a specific flange size and payload class rather than bought as a standard catalogue item.
