ControlLogix 5580 Controller Chassis Unit (1756-L83E)

The 1756-L83E is a ControlLogix 5580 controller from Rockwell Automation’s Allen-Bradley brand. It plugs into a ControlLogix 1756 chassis and provides the processing for logic, motion, process and safety applications programmed in Studio 5000 Logix Designer. The L83E version offers user memory in the tens of megabytes, with built-in dual Ethernet ports supporting EtherNet/IP, and a USB port for programming. It has faster execution compared with earlier ControlLogix 5570 controllers and supports a large number of connections and axes of motion. Features include device level ring support, secure communications, and options for integrated safety with a suitable firmware. The controller sits in a chassis along with power supply, communication modules and I/O modules, and the chassis itself is a separate item. Typical applications are large machines, production lines, batch and continuous process control, and plant-wide systems in automotive, food and beverage, packaging and oil and gas.
