ControlLogix SERCOS III Motion Interface Module (1756-M08SE)

The 1756-M08SE is a ControlLogix SERCOS interface module that connects a ControlLogix controller to servo drives over a SERCOS III fiber or Ethernet network. It supports up to eight axes of motion in the Logix controller, with the motion planning performed in the controller and the module handling the real-time communication with the drives. SERCOS III offers a fast deterministic cycle time and is used with Kinetix 6000 and 6200 drives as well as compatible third-party drives. The module plugs into a 1756 chassis and is configured through Studio 5000 Logix Designer. It supports position, velocity and torque control modes and motion instructions such as gearing, camming and coordinated paths. Typical applications are packaging, converting, printing, assembly and metal forming machines requiring multi-axis synchronised motion. Newer Rockwell designs use EtherNet/IP integrated motion rather than SERCOS, so this module is typically used in existing installations and expansions.
