CJ-Series Position Control Module (CJ1W-NC414)

The CJ1W-NC414 is a position control unit for the Omron CJ1 and CJ2 PLC platform. It provides four axes of pulse train output with a line-driver interface, which is used to control stepper motors or servo drives that accept pulse and direction inputs. The unit offers positioning with trapezoidal or S-curve acceleration, interpolation between axes, and origin search functions, and it can use data tables of positions and speeds stored in the unit memory. The unit communicates with the CPU through the PLC bus, with commands issued from the ladder program and parameters set in CX-Programmer or CX-Motion-NCF. Maximum output frequency is several hundred kilopulses per second. Typical applications include multi-axis positioning on assembly machines, XY tables, packaging and labeling equipment, and simple point-to-point motion tasks. This is a mature product and newer motion options such as EtherCAT based on NJ and NX controllers are the preferred design path.
