CV-X480F high-speed smart vision system

The CV-X480F is listed as a controller in Keyence’s CV-X400 series, the current generation of the CV-X intuitive vision system. A CV-X controller connects multiple CA-series area or line cameras and runs the inspection program; it is set up through a dedicated console and monitor with a step-by-step guided interface rather than PC programming. The CV-X400 generation supports Keyence’s LumiTrax multi-angle lighting, in which the camera captures several images under different illumination directions to separate surface shape from texture, and adds AI-based defect tools alongside conventional pattern search, edge, blob, OCR and dimension tools. Higher-numbered controllers in the series are positioned for greater processing speed and more camera inputs, including 3D measurement with Keyence pattern-projection heads. Outputs to PLCs are via parallel I/O and industrial Ethernet protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET and EtherCAT, and the system integrates with robot controllers for 2D and 3D vision-guided robotics. Typical uses are appearance and assembly inspection, dimensional measurement, code and character reading, and robot picking in automotive, electronics and packaging lines.
