The FHV7 series is a smart camera from Omron that combines the image sensor, lens, lighting and processing in one compact housing. A key feature is a multi-color light that can switch between several colours and lighting patterns, helping reveal defects or features with different contrast. The camera is available in different resolutions and with different field-of-view options, and it uses Omron’s vision software for tools such as pattern matching, edge detection, measurement, colour inspection, and code reading. Setup is done with a flowchart-based or step-by-step interface on a PC, and the camera communicates over Ethernet with PLCs using protocols such as EtherNet/IP, PROFINET, EtherCAT depending on model, as well as parallel I/O. The housing is rated for industrial environments.
