MELSEC FX5U Compact PLC (FX5U-32MR/ES)

The FX5U-32MR/ES is a 32-point CPU unit of Mitsubishi Electric’s MELSEC iQ-F (FX5U) compact PLC series. It has 16 24 V DC sink/source inputs, six of which accept 200 kHz high-speed counter pulses, and 16 relay outputs rated 2 A per point at up to 240 V AC or 30 V DC. It is powered from 100-240 V AC and provides a 24 V DC service supply of 400 mA for sensors. Program capacity is 64k steps (128k with newer firmware), with 120 kB of device and label memory. Built-in features include an Ethernet port for GX Works3 programming, GOT connection, socket communication, FTP and web server, an RS-485 port for MODBUS RTU, inverter communication and N:N network, two analogue voltage inputs and one analogue voltage output, and an SD card slot. Expansion I/O, analogue, positioning and network modules connect on the right-hand bus, and expansion adapters on the left. Because the outputs are relays, high-speed pulse positioning requires the transistor-output models or expansion. Typical uses are standalone machine control, packaging, conveyors and building services.
