The MHZ2-20D is a double-acting parallel gripper from the SMC MHZ2 series. It has a bore of 20 mm and two fingers moving in parallel on a linear guide, which makes the gripper rigid against moment loads. The nominal stroke is 10 mm per finger, giving 20 mm total opening, and a gripping force of roughly 50 N at 0.5 MPa. The body has slots for auto switches, so that finger positions can be detected, and air connections are on the side or end. The gripper operates on compressed air from about 0.1 to 0.6 MPa. Variants exist with dust cover, and single-acting types. Typical applications are the handling of small workpieces in assembly, electronics and machine tending.
