smartPAD-2 Handheld Control Terminal (00-305-429)

The KUKA smartPAD-2 is the second-generation handheld teach pendant for KUKA robots running KUKA System Software on KR C4 and KR C5 controllers. It has an 8.4-inch scratch- and shock-resistant anti-glare touch display in a floating mount, a 6D mouse for intuitive jogging of the robot in all six degrees of freedom, membrane jog and status keys, an emergency stop button and three-position enabling switches on the back that can be used by left- or right-handed operators. The housing is a lightweight two-component plastic design with a hand strap, rated IP54, and passed a two-metre drop test; the pendant weighs about 1.1 kg and has USB ports for loading programs and backups. The smartPAD can be disconnected and reconnected while the controller is running, and it is supplied with cable lengths such as 10 m (the smartPAD-2 10m variant). It received an iF Design Award in 2018. The pendant is used for programming, teaching points, running and monitoring programs, diagnostics and configuration of KUKA robot cells.
