S-series incremental linear glass scale assembly

The S series from Fagor Automation is a family of sealed incremental linear encoders that use a glass scale with a photoelectric scanning principle. They are mounted along the travel axis of a machine and report linear position directly to the CNC or drive, which removes errors from ball screw pitch, thermal growth, and backlash. The aluminium housing is sealed with lips to protect the glass scale from coolant, chips, and dust. Measuring lengths run from a few tens of millimetres to several metres depending on the sub-series, with accuracy grades in the micrometre range and resolutions down to fractions of a micron when interpolated. Output signals are typically TTL or 1 Vpp sinusoidal, and reference marks can be single or distance-coded. Typical applications include milling machines, lathes, grinders, measuring machines, and other precision positioning axes.
