The belts are of the wrapped or raw edge type with a polyester cord and a rubber compound that resists heat, oil and abrasion. Compared with classic V-belts, narrow section belts carry higher power in a smaller width, which allows a more compact drive. Belts are produced in standard sections such as SPZ, SPA, SPB and SPC, and they run on matching grooved pulleys or sheaves, with taper bush mounting or fixed bores. Typical applications are fans, blowers, pumps, compressors, crushers, conveyors and machine tools. A drive design should consider the power, speed ratio, shaft distance, number of belts and service factor.
