A high-frequency electromagnetic bowl feeder base is the drive unit under a vibratory bowl, using an electromagnet and leaf springs to vibrate the bowl at a frequency close to the mains frequency or a multiple of it. In this way, parts placed in the bowl climb a helical track and are aligned by tooling before leaving the bowl. A controller adjusts amplitude to vary the feed rate. High-frequency designs are used for small, light parts such as electronic components, screws, fasteners and pharmaceutical items, because they give gentle conveying at fine amplitude. The unit is typically mounted on vibration-damping feet and combined with a linear feeder to supply parts to assembly machines and robots.
