The IV3 series is Keyence’s vision sensor with built-in AI for presence and difference (go/no-go) checks in error-proofing. The user marks the inspection area and registers at least one good and one bad sample image; the AI then chooses illumination intensity, flash method and exposure time and builds the detection settings, which Keyence states makes the result stable against ambient light, product variation and surface condition. Each sensor head integrates the camera, lens and illumination, and the lineup includes ten heads, in smart-camera and compact formats, with monochrome or colour imaging and different focal lengths. Installation distance ranges from 50 mm up to 3,000 mm, where the maximum field of view is about 2,730 x 2,044 mm. Processing runs in a small separate amplifier with its own CPU, so no PC is needed, and accessory AI illumination units (IV3-L and IV3-LG models) extend the lighting. Network connection to PLCs uses Keyence DL-series communication units. Typical applications are checking for missing parts, labels, caps, screws and connectors on assembly and packaging lines.
