The EIL580 is an incremental optical encoder from Baumer, designed for demanding industrial environments. It is available as a shaft encoder with a synchro or clamping flange, and as a hollow shaft version with a stator coupling. Optical sensing delivers high resolution with up to thousands of pulses per revolution, and output signals are A, B and zero pulse in TTL, HTL or push-pull format. The housing is made of aluminium with a rugged bearing arrangement, and protection is IP67 depending on the version. Cable or connector outputs are offered, and the encoder works on a supply of 5 to 30 V. The EIL580 builds on Baumer’s design with a focus on shock and vibration resistance and long service life. Typical applications are motor feedback, conveyor and machine positioning, drives, packaging and printing machines, and textile and woodworking equipment.
