The RM9000 is an absolute multiturn encoder from ifm that uses magnetic sensing. An absolute encoder reports its position as soon as it is powered up, and the multiturn function keeps track of the number of revolutions as well as the angle within a turn. Magnetic scanning makes the encoder robust against dust, moisture, and vibration compared with optical designs. It is used to measure the position of axes, winches, valves, and linear drives through a gear or cable. The interface and resolution of the RM9000 were not confirmed.
