1S series high-resolution AC servo motor

The Omron 1S series is the company’s servo system for use with the Sysmac automation platform, and the motors are designated R88M-1 in the product code. They are permanent magnet AC servo motors with a high-resolution absolute encoder, typically 23-bit, which provides precise positioning and removes the need for homing after power loss. Motors are available in several frame sizes covering power ratings from about 50 W to several kW, with options for brake, keyed shaft and different inertia classes for low-inertia fast response or higher inertia stability. The motor is connected to a 1S servo drive through standard power and encoder cables, and the drive supports EtherCAT communication and the Sysmac safety features such as Safe Torque Off. Typical applications include packaging machines, semiconductor and electronics manufacturing, machine tools, assembly lines and robotic mechanisms.
