GuardShield 450L safety light curtain system

The GuardShield 450L is a Type 4 safety light curtain from Rockwell Automation’s Allen-Bradley Guardmaster line. It protects hazardous areas by detecting when a person or object interrupts an array of infrared beams, then sending a stop signal via safety outputs. Versions are available with different resolutions for finger, hand and body detection, and different protective heights. The transmitter and receiver are linked by a cable, and LED status indicators and alignment aids ease installation. Functions such as automatic or manual restart, external device monitoring and muting may be offered depending on the variant. The device can achieve PL e and SIL 3 within the proper application. Typical applications include press brakes, assembly machines, robot cells and packaging machinery.
