NERLITE Smart Series vision lighting

NERLITE Smart Series is a family of machine vision LED lights introduced by Microscan in 2011 under its NERLITE lighting brand. Each light has an internal controller, so users do not have to select a separate controller, voltage or connector; all models run on standardised 24 V supply with industrial connectors. Intensity is controlled by PWM for dimming and on/off switching, and the lights offer an adjustable continuous mode and a high-output strobe mode for freezing fast-moving parts. Geometries include ring lights, spot lights, large area lights and NERLITE’s patented diffuse on-axis lights (DOAL), in several sizes and wavelengths such as red, white, blue and IR; a Smart Series MAX range added higher output and a Pharmalite version targeted pharmaceutical inspection. They are rated for operation up to 40 °C and carried a three-year warranty. Microscan is now part of Omron and the NERLITE range is a legacy product. Typical uses were barcode and DPM reading, label and print inspection, and presence checks with Microscan and other vision systems.
