ROBA-ES flexible elastomer backlash-free coupling

ROBA-ES is mayr power transmission’s backlash-free elastomer coupling for servo drives, ball screws and other positioning drives. It consists of two jaw hubs and a pre-loaded elastomer ring whose teeth fit the hub jaws without backlash, giving a torsionally flexible, vibration-damping connection that compensates axial, angular and radial misalignment. Because the halves simply plug together it can be assembled blind, for example inside a motor bell housing, and it needs no maintenance. Sizes are 14, 19, 24, 28, 38, 42, 48, 55 and 65, with nominal torques from about 4 Nm to about 1,200 Nm and peak torques up to about 2,500 Nm depending on size and elastomer, and maximum speeds from 28,000 rpm on size 14 down to 5,600 rpm on size 65. Five elastomers are colour coded: blue 80 Sh A, yellow 92 Sh A, red 98 Sh A, green 64 Sh D and grey 72 Sh D, with permissible temperatures from -50 °C up to +110 °C depending on grade. Hubs are offered with clamping, keyway or shrink-disk connections, and ATEX versions are available. Typical uses are servo motor to ball screw, gearbox and pump connections in machine tools and automation.
