NBK is a Japanese coupling manufacturer known for its servo-grade couplings, and the XG series is a family of disc couplings that provide zero backlash and high torsional stiffness. A typical design has two aluminium or steel hubs, each with a clamp fastening to the shaft, joined by a flexible disc pack that accommodates angular, parallel and axial misalignment while transmitting torque with minimal windup. Disc couplings of this type respond immediately to motor reversals and offer high speed capability, which is helpful for accurate positioning. The hub bore is made in a range of standard metric sizes, and key-less clamp mounting avoids fretting on shafts. Typical applications include servo-driven ball screws, linear actuators, semiconductor equipment, machine tool feed drives, encoders and measuring instruments.
